Description
This is Sampling Event dataset. It consists of occurrence and abundance data of 75 species, 37 genus, 16 families of Collembola. The study was carried out in July 2013, in the Chernaya river basin on the Bolshezemelskaya tundra. Here one can find 28 sampling events with 423 occurrences.
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 28 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Geographic Coverage
Studies were carried out in terrestrial ecosystems of the rivers Chernaya, Khudaya,Naryoyaha, Nimdivoyaha (the Khaipudyr Bay of the Barents Sea). This territory is located in the Bol’shezemelskii geomorphic district of the Pechora Lowland belonging to the Timan–Uralian geomorphic province. The relief of this part of the Bol’shezemelskaya tundra is specified by the presence of numerous ridged elevations separated by closed or open hollow-type depressions occupied by lakes and bogs. The Khaipudyr Bay coast belongs to the continuous permafrost zone.

Study Area Description | Studies were conducted in the region of the rivers Chernaya, Khudaya, Naryoyaha, Nimdivoyaha. This territory is located in subzone of northern tundra (north of Bolshezemelskaya tundra, Nenets Autonomous District). It is a low accumulative plain with absolute elevations not less than 100 m. This area is characterized by permafrost. Seasonal depths of thawing in peat soils do not exceed 50–100 cm. |
Design Description | Quantitative accounting is carried out in the following plant associations, more or less fully reflecting the main diversity of plants of this region: willow, shrub, shrubby, spotted tundras and meadows. |

Sampling Methods
The research was conducted at 28 sampling sites, which were combined into eight main type of vegetation of northern tundra.
Study Extent | The study was carried out in July 2013, in the terrestrial ecosystems near the Chernaya river basin. |

Method step description:
- Five samples were collected from each of the sampling sites using a frame measuring 5 cm on each side (25 cm2) and having a depth of 5 cm, making a total of 140 samples of both soil and the overlying vegetation. Springtails were extracted using a Tullgren apparatus, and species were identified using the Fjellberg (1998,2007) and Potapov (2001) keys.
