The collection has two rooms:
- room for working with unialgal cultures and storing live strains of microalgae 16.3 m2,
- room for sorting out incoming samples, as well as storing the collection of fixed samples, herbarium samples and the mixed soil–algae samples 16.4 m2.

Optical instruments
To work with strains in the collection microscopes equipped with digital video cameras are used:

- "Nikon Eclipse E400 FL" microscope with luminescent attachment and "PROGRES SUBRA NW" digital camera special.
